¡¡¡¡Changde has rich mine resources with complete varieties.59 varieties of mines have been found.The reserves of gypsum,mirabilite,bentonite and sepiolite take an important position in Hunan province and the reserves of gypsum rank first in Hunan province.It is planned to establish a production base of series gypsum products in order to utilize the resources of mine and speed up the development of mining industry.ª¥

¡¡¡¡Main product:construction gypsum powder,whitewashing gypsum powder,high strength gypsum powder,construction gypsum board,light inner wall bricks,cement and calcium sulfate crystal palp.ª¥

¡¡¡¡The total investment is 73 million USD and 110 million USD can be achieved after  it is completed.ª¤

¡¡¡¡Gypsum resources:

¡¡¡¡The reserves of gypsum in Hunan province are 2.4 billion tons.Changde has rich resources of gypsum and its proved reserves are 2.1 billion tons,accounting for 87.5 per cent.Its potential value is 14 billion USD.The gypsum mines in Changde are distributed in Shimen,Linli and Lixian.The ore bed,formed in the Tertiary System and Quaternary system,contains 7 layers of gypsum,mainly dihydrate gypsum and then anhydrite with the content of CaSO4.2HO being 80-90 per cent.The reserves of dihydrate gypsum are 1.6 billion tons,accounting 76 per cent of the total,anhydrite 500 million tons,24 percent.The burial depth of gypsum mine is 50-120 meters with simple hydrological and geological condition,free of the gravel layer in the Quaternary System.ª¥There are 3 proved mines,including 2 extra large ones and 1 large one in Changde.There are 28 enterprises being engaged in mining gypsum with the annual output being 873 thousand tons,including 13 enterprises in Shimen county with the annual output of 402 thousand tons,12 enterprises in Linli county with the annual output of 315 thousand tons and 3 enterprises in Lixian county with the annual output of 156 thousand tons.ª¥Some gypsum powder,manufacturers are put into operation and their products are single including the ordinary plaster,gypsum plate and high strength gypsum powder.And their output is small.The annual output of high strength gypsum powder is 2000 tons,plaster powder 30000 tons and plate 3000-8000.ª¤

¡¡¡¡Acid sulfate and by-product cement:80 thousand tons acid sulfate and 120 thousand tons by-product cement.Production of calcium sulfate crystal palp with the annual capacity of 10000 tons.ª¤

¡¡¡¡Market analysis:ª¥

¡¡¡¡Gypsum product for construction materials has the characteristics of light weight,fireproof,heat insulation,sound-absorption,less flexibility and good anti-eart hquake,and can be nailed,sawed,drilled and cohered without pests.It is widely used in the ceramics moulding,plastics moulding and metal moulding,and regarded the ideal construction material for frame structure building and called the green construction material.Gypsum powder,board and brick are the three major products of gypsum product for construction material.ª¥

¡¡¡¡¡ª¡ªGypsum powder has a broad development prospect and is widely used in arts and crafts,medicine and agriculture.ª¥

¡¡¡¡¡ª¡ªIn order to encourage the utilization of new wall materials,the solid clay bricks are prohibited and preferential taxation policies will be granted to the new wall materials which grow rapidly.The more paper gypsum boards are employed in the housing construction market in China.Since 1999, the demand for paper gypsum board increases at the rate of over 15£¥.Now,the solid clay bricks are prohibited in many medium-sized and large cities of China and the demand for the new wall materials is increasing.The construction of projects for Beijing Olympics 2008 will increase the demand for green environmental protection wall materials.ª¥

¡¡¡¡¡ª¡ªThe gypsum bricks have exact size and smooth and flat surface with tenons all around.So its construction is easy.The usage of gypsum bricks in the European and American countries account for 30-50 percent of the wall materials with the characteristics of heat preservation,heat insulation and energy-saving,suitable for the development of wall materials reforming and high building.ª¥The technology for producting acid sulfate and by-product cement is mature.Calcium sulfate crystal palp can be used to manufacture the asbestos-free friction materials,the filtering material and combustion-resistance material for indoor decoration.The coatings and paints mixed with crystal palp have strong capability of cohesion,heat preservation and insulation.The calcium sulfate crystal palp can be used in plastics,rubber,coating and friction.

¡¡¡¡Changde has been given the honorable titles of National Hygiene City, the National Gardening City, China Excellent Tourism City, National Civilization City and National Excellent Transportation Control City by the state.Changde is in subtropical monsoon area with distinctive seasons, warm climate, plenty of sunshine and rainfall. The annual average temp is 16.5¡æ,the annual average rainfall is 1310 mm, the annual sunshine time is 1530-1870 hours and the frost-free period is about 270 days with the average relative humidity being 81%.Changde city has become the largest energy base in Hunan province. The average price of power for industrial use is 0.47 yuan per KWH, 0.41 yuan per KWH for key industry, 0.17 yuan per KWH in low peak time. Establishment of power plant is encouraged.

¡¡¡¡Transportation: Changde city has been listed one of 60 pivotal cities, and is the only inland city that simultaneously has railway, expressway, airport and waterway.ª¥

¡¡¡¡6 expressways will meet in Changde. Changde-Changsha Expressway has been open to traffic, Changde-Zhangjiajie Expressway and Changde-Jishou Expressway are under construction. Changde -Jingzhou, Changde-Yueyang, Changde-Shaoyang Expressway will be started soon.Changde Airport can land or take off large passenger planes Boeing 737 and 757, and the flights to Beijing, Shanghai,Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Haikou have been open.ª¥

3000-tonnage ship can sail on Yuanjiang River and Lishui River yearly, where there are 36 docks including two 500-tonnage docks and one 1000-tonnage container dock in Changde Port with the annual handling capacity of over 10 million tons.
