¡¡¡¡According to the statistics of the World Food and Agriculture Organization, the demand for goose meat and its products in the international market is increasing and the import quantity of the western developed countries such as the USA, England, France, Russia and Japan reaches over 10 million tons, as well as 245 thousand tons in Saudi Arabia and 197 thousand tons in Hong Kong. The present export quantity of livestock meat in our country only accounts for 3.7£¥ of its output quantity and about 8£¥ of its export trade volume in the world. So, our country is a typical big production one but a small export one. ª¥
¡¡¡¡Market and potentials at home: The mainland of China has a population of 1.3 billion. The annual per capita meat consumption is 44Kg while the goose meat only accounts for about 0.5£¥. ª¥
¡¡¡¡If the goose products are supplied sufficiently in the market, their annual demand will reach over 2860 thousand tons when calculated according to the most conservative proportion 5£¥.ª¥
¡¡¡¡The present new statistics in our country shows that the total volume of the goose meat in the whole country is less than 700 thousand tons where 60£¥ of its consumption refers to the situation of self-breeding, self- killing and self-eating by the residents in the countryside. The products that really enter the market for the purpose of consumption and value increase are less than 280 thousand tons. So, the development of goose meat industry will greatly promote urban consumption and improve people's food structure, which has unlimited development prospects. ª¥
¡¡¡¡There is rich professional technical force in Dongting Animal Husbandry Company with senior talent of 30 doctors and masters and 163 technicians. ¡¡¡¡A long-time development strategy for the animal husbandry industry is determined by the state, namely, the cattle and the sheep are the main development direction in the pasture area and in the hilly area while the goose and the duck in the lake area. ª¥
The pig breeding is developing steadily in our animal husbandry industry to ensure the consumption amount of meat for the people. At the same time, the breeding and processing project of the grass-eating livestock with the green environmental protection and high nutrition is listed in the key development objects supported by the local government.ª¥
The small breeding scale of grass-eating livestock, small amount of its development and unsound supply system of its fine breed result in idle potential advantage of its resource. The use rate of the pasture field of the wet land in the inclosing area is only about 2£¥, that of the wood land is only zero and that of the bank slope is only 5£¥. If they are developed and used completely and the ecological breading of goose, planting of the trees and growing of the grass in the planned areas performed, 17 million geese can be developed.ª¥
¡¡¡¡Anxiang Goose Industry Development Leading Group was set up by the Anxiang County government to support the project and deal with its related problems.
¡¡¡¡Environment:
¡¡¡¡Anxiang County is located in the temperate zone with monsoon wet climate, sufficient rain and sunshine, without the severe cold winter and the intense hot summer, with annual average temperature of 16.6¡æ, the highest value of monthly average temperature of 28.5¡æ, the lowest value of 4.3¡æ and the annual average rain precipitation of 1217.7mm. Its frostless period throughout the year is 275 days. Its average sunshine time is 1824 hours. The average altitude of the base above sea level in the center of the county is 25-36m where there are no hills and high land with the ratio between the water area and the land area 1:2. Grain, cotton and oil plants are mainly planted in the region where there is no mineral resource and big industrial and mineral enterprises. Its climate and single agricultural mode have laid a good regional condition for the breading of water livestock and the development of livestock product processing industry.ª¥
¡¡¡¡Anxiang County has got water and land traffic condition. As to the land traffic, the provincial highway 1804 goes through the county from the east to the west.
¡¡¡¡The trunk road connects Shimen-Changsha railway, Changde-Changsha expressway, national highway 319and 207 and is only 83Km away from Changde Customs. As to the water traffic, one goes down to the south from the tributary Songzihe of the Yangtze river, directly gets to Changsha container water transportation wharf, Shashi, Yichang and Wuhan in the upper reaches and Shanghai on the east. The water and land traffic net layout in the county benefits the breed supply, technical guidance and the connection of the product with the market. ª¤
